Kennedy Space Center

This past week I got the chance to visit the Kennedy Space Center. It is located on Merritt Island,  Florida. The Kennedy Space Center is designed to educate their visitors on space exploration and about the history and current status of space exploration today. The Space Center’s visitor complex allows visitors to experience the wonders of space, including visiting the Apollo/Saturn v center, seeing the space shuttle Atlantis, exploring the rocket gardens while viewing the actual rockets from the Mercury, Gemini, and Apollo programs, meeting a veteran astronaut from NASA’s famous Astronaut Corps, and discovering the future of space exploration in Mars with the Journey to Mars: Explores Wanted interactive building. The Kennedy Space Center also has two 3D presentations, one on Journey to Space 3D which explains projects currently being worked on by NASA, and the second on Imax Hubble 3D which explores the amazing images taken by the Hubble Space Telescope.

Space shuttle Atlantis was the fourth orbiter to join the fleet. Atlantis flew 125,935,769 miles in space with 33 missions between April 13, 1985 – July 21, 2011. The Atlantis is now on display at the Kennedy Space Center.
